Over the past few years, the term ‘loft space’ has been tagged on to numerous downtown properties in South Africa. Unfortunately, few of them are the real thing. For once, however, it’s a phrase that can be accurately used to describe two exciting Cape Town units that GoIndustry DoveBid SA (Pty) Limited will be offering as part of its next online auction in November 2011.
The units are located in one of Cape Town’s original loft developments – Het Atelier in Roodehek Road in the Gardens district, which borders on to the fast-developing East City creative node in the Cape Town CBD know as The Fringe.
With the exterior of the property reminiscent of a trendy face-brick ‘factory’, Het Atelier has become a popular multi-use, live-and-work building. The two open-plan, double-volume units (respectively 116m2 and 141m2) are adjoining, and can be used as one enormous working or living space (they have been used to date by a dynamic commercial production company) or separately. Each has access to extensive, entertainment-sized, exclusive-use outdoor areas. Mezzanine levels, factory style spiral staircases and steelwork interiors complement window frames that look onto Table Mountain, making these light, bright spaces ideal for working creatives or those hoping to experience real loft living. Each unit comes complete with two undercover parking bays.
The auction is part of the online company’s latest offering under its new property Africa division. The South African company represents renowned international auctioneers GoIndustry DoveBid, which – through GoIndustry Plc – is a listed company on the London Stock Exchange. The global group has 40 offices in 27 countries, and has been conducting online auctions since 2000. The South African-based online property division, headed by award-winning property professional Kim Faclier, is the international group’s first dedicated venture into the property environment. The online property auction is the company’s second, following its highly successful inaugural auction in August of this year.
Says Faclier of the units on offer: “The Het Atelier units are reminiscent of the trendy New York lofts seen on film sets and in top interior design journals. There are few buildings in Cape Town that can offer this type of ultra-trendy but still safe and secure living or working space, and in such an inspiring architectural setting.”
The property will be on auction via Go-Industry DoveBid’s international website, www.Go-Dove.com/southafrica and can be viewed on line. Bidding will open on Monday 14 November 2011 at 14h00 and close on Wednesday 16 November 2011 at 14h00 South African time.
One more show day will also be physically held on site, on Tuesday 1 November, with viewing from 12h00 until 13h00. Alternative site viewings can also be made by prior arrangement with GoIndustry DoveBid SA.
