Cape Town – A doorman at a popular pub in Long Street was stabbed to death at the weekend.
Beerhouse on Long employee Joe Louis Kazadi Kanyona, 32, was apparently attacked by unknown suspects standing outside, the institution said in a statement.
“Joe, as he was affectionately known by staff at Beerhouse, was a much-loved colleague and friend, and although he worked in the security environment he had a gentle soul, friendly demeanour and ready smile.”
Western Cape police spokesperson constable Noloyiso Rwexana said officers arrived to find Kanyona lying on the floor with a stab wound to his neck.
She confirmed a murder case had been opened. No arrests had yet been made.
The pubs in Cape Town was closed on Sunday following the stabbing. The institution said it was deeply hurt and extended its condolences to his family and the Congolese community. It assured that it would do everything in its power to look after his family and would donate all proceeds on Monday to them.
