UCT’s December graduations passed the halfway mark this morning, Thursday, 15 December, when the Faculty of Commerce hosted ceremony number seven of the 12 scheduled for the week.
|L is for learning, Levine & Low: Dr Susan Levine and Tim Low were hailed as among the year’s outstanding teachers at UCT, receiving their Distinguished Teacher Awards.|
Graduands receiving their bachelors of commerce degrees dominated the programme, the faculty’s third of five. (For more information on graduation see the programmes. A number of postgraduate diplomas were also awarded.
And while students took centre stage, the folks facing them in lecture halls also received some plaudits. Dr Susan Levine of the Department of Social Anthropology was presented with her Distinguished Teacher Award at the afternoon ceremony on Wednesday. Fellow recipient, Tim Low of the Department of Statistical Sciences, received his award this morning. The other two winners – Associate Professor Michael Campbell and Dr Gregory Smith – will be honoured at ceremonies this afternoon and on Friday morning, respectively. In addition, Professor Ed Rybicki and Professor Vanessa Watson will be presented with their UCT fellowship awards at the Friday morning and afternoon ceremonies, respectively. (See Monday Paper article.
