A new App made in South Africa combines the best of social media and crowd funding to make birthday wishes come true.
The FLYBOY, the original self-balancing scooter in South Africa, was reported to be the world’s most popular Christmas gift for 2015.
According to a social survey done by SABC 1 and reported on ‘Geleza Nathi’ Wednesday morning, the FLYBOY was by far the most in-demand product for 2016, from a shortlist of five.
But not everyone has the roughly R9000 price tag in their budget, leaving many kids wanting.
The local distributor for FLYBOYS in South Africa has come up with a solution: www.crowdfundme.club. This visionary new web application will ensure that if you did not get a FLYBOY at Christmas, you probably have to wait no longer than your very next birthday to make it yours.
The software is based on the crowd funding concept. A remodelled version of the idea allows young Johnny to register online and then target and encourage selected friends and family to ‘club together’ for his next birthday… so he can get the FLYBOY he wants so badly.
There are various incentives for sharing, referring others and for completing certain steps, bringing the goal closer with each step. These incentives and the contributions of friends and family all go towards the cost of his FLYBOY. A simple progress Barometer on his dashboard indicates in Rands how close he is to reaching the full purchase price.
The software tracks all payments and contributions to Johnny’s goal in real time, and when he reaches his goal, his FLYBOY will arrive on his doorstep on the big day.
The tool is user friendly and encourages youngsters to ‘save’ towards an item of much bigger value. Payment is via the secure Payfast gateway using credit or debit cards, or by EFT.
The application designed and developed in Cape Town by Flyboys.
