Karen Zoid, Theuns Jordaan, Kurt Darren, Snotkop, Wynand en Chereé, Elvis se Seun, Adam, Wicus van der Merwe, Rooies, Liza Brönner, Ricus Nel, Hendrik Spangenberg, Dr. Victor & The Rasta Rebels and Refentse Morake are some of South Africa’s premium musical talents performing at the Madeliefie Makietie event in the heart of Matzikama this year.
Madeliefie Makietie will take place from Thursday, 29 September 2016 until Sunday, 2 October 2016 in the Western Cape town of Vredendal. Apart from the huge open-air stage, amusement park and various stalls, the Pars en Proe venue will also be transformed into a regional food deli featuring delicious local wines.
This year the festival boasts a complete agricultural exhibition, where various players from the agricultural industry will take part. Interested business owners who would like to participate or who would like to run other stalls at the festival can apply on the festival website, www.madeliefiemakietie.co.za.
Cindy Schade, PR officer of the festival, says that festivalgoers should start booking accommodation in Vredendal immediately. “Accommodation in this region is very limited so don’t get caught unaware. Book early to avoid disappointment. Vredendal offers a wide range of hotels, guest houses, camping sites and more to choose from. Visit the website and take a look at all the options available.”
According to Schade, Madeliefie Makietie is invested in the the youth from all over the region, and some of the income raised from the festival is used to create facilities at local schools. “It’s important to us to create a safe and family-friendly environment at the festival. We are very proud that we could achieve this at last year’s event.”
Every year the Miss Madeliefie Makietie is a highlight in the region and this year Snotkop will MC the event. Entries are open for Miss Madeliefie, which takes place on Thursday, 29 September, and anyone interested can apply on the website.
Tickets are available from Computicket or by visiting the festival’s website. This year’s festival is a major value-for-money proposition with a wide range of entertainment on offer. Ticket prices vary between R60 to R120 per person.
