The Foreshore outbound carriageway will be closed from the intersection of Coen Steytler Avenue throughout the day on Sunday 31 January 2010, from 05:30 to 20:00.
The closure, which will affect the N1 and N2 outbound, is necessary for the erection of an overhead variable message sign gantry across the outbound elevated section between Customs House and the N1/N2 fork.
There will be closures at Buitengracht Street and Coen Steytler Avenue/Dock Road (Waterfront).
Motorists leaving the CBD are advised to use Hertzog Boulevard to get to the N1 via Oswald Pirow and to the N2, by either: Coen Steytler Avenue through to the Heerengracht and under Table Bay Boulevard (this will be signposted); or Hans Strijdom Avenue, through to the Heerengracht and then to Hertzog Boulevard.
Motorists coming from Kloof Nek and the Atlantic suburbs can avoid the Foreshore by using De Waal Drive from Buitengracht Street via Buitensingel Street and Orange Street.
The City apologises to residents for the inconvenience and thanks them for their patience during the construction. The work has been scheduled on a Sunday so as to minimise inconvenience.
