This is all getting a little out of control. I have started this ‘update’ piece several times today but the updates keep coming in. Following on from last weeks internet orgy featuring Die Antwoord and every site and blog that matters, their website has crashed due to millions of hits, they are getting booked up till the end of the decade and a group known mostly by a niche market in Cape Town has found international appeal.
News 24 has just hooked up an interview with Yo-Landi and Ninja. Check it after the jump.

How’s that vibe? Is that a little tree of knowledge creeping into the shot?
As Ninja mentions, he was Max of Max Normal. I think anyone from Cape Town (specifically) will remember them and how different and radical they were. It seems this dude has a knack for being just that, different, and through that gaining a lot of attention.
Now with the very hot-in-a-dirty-strung-out-way character of Yo-Landi Vi$$er added to the mix Die Antwoord have caught the attention of everyone. As South Africans we are entertained, can you imagine what the Yanks and Poms think? The accent, the rats, the dirty vibe…Die Antwoord have indeed found the answer. The answer to making people pay attention. Be it through morbid fascination, appreciation for the cleverly crafted lyrics or a love for alcohol and a good performance.
If you have missed the online orgy you may want to check out the following (these are a few of the sites pumping these guys at the moment):
Just a taste of how much these guys are blowing up at the moment. Reports that R50, 000 performance fees are being offered shows just how much attention these guys are gaining. Goes to show the power of social media.
It’s scary.
And beautiful.
Nash…
Out!
