City Appeals for Fire-awareness in Informal Areas

Despite the increase in the numbers of dwellings in informal settlements, the City's Fire and Rescue Service recorded fewer fires in informal settlements in 2009 compared to previous years. Cape Town attracts R1,24 billion in investment

The City of Cape Town has excelled by outperforming all of its service delivery targets for the financial year ending on 30 June 2009. Tabling the 2008/09 Annual Report at the first Council meeting for 2010, Executive Mayor Dan Plato said that the City had achieved record levels of expenditure, as well as its sixth consecutive unqualified audit. R1.8 million technology and innovation boost for Cape Town

The City has announced the launch of the Cape Town Entrepreneurship Competition 2010 to recognise and expand entrepreneurship in Cape Town. Funding of R1,8 million was approved by the Council at its meeting on Wednesday 27 January. Of this, R600 000 will be used to fund the competition and R1,2 million will be used for the long-term development of Cape Town's entrepreneur networks.
