The 17 January, 2012 article "USA Yacht Akuido Rescued" needs some clarifications. First, the name of my sail boat is not Akuido and my surname is not Loana. Second, my boat never came closer than half a nautical mile (.9 kilometer) of Vulcan Rock. Welsh Man Falls off Boulders

On 26 December 2011, CMR (Cape Medical Response) paramedics responded to Boulders, near Simonstown, following reports of a man fallen from rocks. In a barely accessible area amongst steep rocks at Boulders Beach the man, 45 year old Allan Evans, from Merthyr Vale, Wales, was treated for a suspected fractured femur. MRCC co-ordinates Medical Evacuation of 2 Crewmen

Over the past few days the Maritime Rescue and Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) has been involved in evacuating crewmembers from two vessels. On Friday the 4th December at 15h49 the master of a vessel, which was only 18 nautical miles off Cape Town, contacted the MRCC requesting a medical evacuation for a crewmember with symptoms resembling a mild stroke. MRCC South Africa attends COSPAS-SARSAT meeting in Canada

The international Cospas-Sarsat programme provides distress and location data to help Search and Rescue (SAR) authorities assist people in distress in the shortest time possible, which directly impacts on the survival rate of the person in distress at sea or on land.
