City upgrades water main in Simon’s Town Main Road

City spends millions on replacing burst water pipes each year

The City is using its recently approved mid-term adjustment budget of R54,2 million to replace pipes in Cape Town's water network - in the first six months of the current financial year, it has already replaced some 21 km of pipes. Brown water at Muizenberg natural and not a cause for concern

After receiving complaints about the colour of the sea water at Muizenberg, the City would like to emphasise that this phenomenon is caused by a naturally occurring sea water algae and not because of ‘Khayelitsha sewerage' or ‘effluent from the waste water treatment works on the Cape Flats' as is often speculated. Cape Town’s water comes out tops

The City of Cape Town was one of only three South African municipalities to receive a 100% score in the Blue Drop Certificate for Drinking Water Quality at the second Drinking Water Quality Conference held in Port Elizabeth in May this year. Cape Town’s new 34m pipeline will save water

Work has been completed on a new pipeline that will distribute treated effluent water from the City of Cape Town's Athlone Wastewater Treatment Works to surrounding areas.
