Maarten Stekelenburg was upbeat about his teams’ performance against Amazulu in Durban on Sunday despite the game being called-off due to the torrential rain.
Looking forward to the replay Maarten said, “There are always negatives and positives when looking at a situation depending how you look at the game. For me I look at the positive because it allows me to plan ahead and address the team to show improvement.
We plan to do better in the replay as we are full of confidence as we played well in the first game and we want to be in the last 16 to play Witbank Spurs in Cape Town. For now we will focus only on the Amazulu game then we will look at the other games and plan accordingly.
After the game the medical team assessed all the players and I am happy to say that Khama is fine and he suffered no setback from the knock he took in the game.
The squad had a good recovery session after the game and the players are relaxed and focussed. I used the time to talk to all the players individually and I will consider the situation before naming my final eleven.”
