The Gugulethu Tenors, the Afro-operatic pop sensations who have been captivating audiences across South Africa and beyond with their breathtaking sound and enduring story, will perform live in concert at the Fugard Theatre on 9 March 2012. Fast becoming one of Cape Town’s most sought-after theatres, The Fugard is delighted to host this jaw-dropping quartet in their spectacular District 6-based facility the first time. Concert-goers can expect to be enchanted by the soothing harmonies and remarkable voices of a proudly home-grown four-piece, who has graced the stages of SA’s top events and festivals, and have shared bills with local and international headliners.
The Gugulethu Tenors’ incorporate contemporary and subtle ethnic elements in their opera inspired music, embodying the culture-rich diversity of our “Rainbow Nation”. This vocal feast offers something for everyone – from opera favourites like Nessun Dorma and contemporary classics like You Raise Me Up, to South African favourites such as Meadowlands, Pata Pata and even Liefling, as well as their own moving compositions like O Afrika! and Nyamezela.
