The only body contouring machine to simultaneously build muscle and burn fat!
BTL Emsculpt has been making huge waves in the States and globally over the last few months, with stars like Drew Barrymore and Kim Kardashian convinced of the results of the treatments. Just launched in South Africa, it’s the only procedure to help women and men both build muscle and burn fat.
There are plenty of body contouring technologies on offer targeting fat and skin, but one third of the body is made of muscle. For people who want to shift less than an inch of pinchable fat, or to improve the tone and shape of the bum and tum, it requires a different treatment.
The technology is called HIFEM – High Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic Technology. It stimulates a series of ‘supramaximal’ muscle contractions (contractions which can not be achieved voluntarily). It causes all the skeletal muscles to simultaneously contract in the area that’s being treated, and eliminates fat cells in the process. With approximately 20,000 contractions that are bigger than you could do on your own, that’s over 20,000 perfect sit-ups it a 30 minute session!
The area of treatment experiences stronger and more defined muscles, and the results can’t be matched by anything else on the market. It even includes the world’s first non-invasive buttock lifting procedure!
Ideal candidates include relatively fit and lean women and men looking to achieve definition for their abdomen and a lift in the buttocks, or are looking for help with a stubborn area they can’t shift themselves.
The procedure has also been particularly popular with recovering athletes and patients with sports-related injuries. Emsculpt’s ability to quickly and effectively strengthen muscle groups makes it a good rehabilitative treatment for muscles weakened due to injury.
SA Gynaecologist Dr Natalia Novikova, who became interested in BTL equipment when looking for equipment for vaginal tightening and pelvic floor exercisers, happened to try the Emsculpt while she was meeting at the BTL offices.
“A few weeks later I noticed I was a different shape for the weight I was at, it was only then I started researching the equipment seriously, and went back for more treatments…. I still love my exercise and won’t be giving my running and gyming any time soon, but with my love of food, the only road to a potential six-pack is Emsculpt!” says Dr Novikova.
At R5000 per session, its significantly cheaper than abroad (USD 750 and GBP 750 quoted online), but will only be in the range of a minority of South African customers.
4 treatments are recommended, there is no downtime for the procedure and normal activity can be resumed immediately.
SAFTA Best Actress, Kgomotso Christopher has been one of the first to try the treatments in South Africa, and if the global reaction is anything to go by, the treatment will be popular with other A-listers.
Dr Novikova is currently extending her room at Intercare Sandton to offer her patients a range of treatments from BTL Aesthetics and Medical Technologies. These FDA-approved medical procedures have been subjected to stringent clinical trials and include treatment for cellulite, incontinence, lymph drainage, skin tightening, vaginal tightening, and, with Emsculpt, muscle toning and fat reduction.
The BTL treatments will also soon be available in Cape Town.
