Muir College is marking two centuries of education in Kariega/Uitenhage with the publishing of “200 Leadership Life Lessons” for the next generation of leaders.
The objective of the book is to prepare pupils for life after school by providing inspiration, hope and guidance, says editor Thomas Terblanche.
“The book has given old Muirites, teachers and business leaders from Nelson Mandela Bay an opportunity to pass on leadership wisdom for Muir boys and scholars in general,” he adds.
Contributions for the book have been supplemented with quotes from inspirational leaders around the world.
“Life experience is arguably the greatest teacher, second only to the wisdom of those who went before us. In this publication we have married the two,” he says.
The launch of the book also marks the inaugural Kariega Careers Symposium which, according to Old Muirite Union president Andrew Binning, is intended to be an annual event.
During the symposium Old Muirites will share their business and life experiences, careers and job opportunities with the pupils.
“We share these leadership lessons not only with the current Muir College Learners, but also learners and educators from surrounding schools.
“In this way we share insights and experience from previous generations with the current generation,” he says.
