WESTERN CAPE – Rapid response by members of Citrusdal SAPS led to the recovery of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition at Park 55, Citrusdal on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
The members received information about unlicensed firearms on Saturday 29 August 2026, at about 01:30. They immediately went to the suspect’s address and conducted a thorough search. Police found two unlicensed firearms and a total of 149 various assorted rounds of ammunition. A 39-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and illegal possession of ammunition.
He will make his first court appearance at the Lambersbay Magistrate’s court on Monday 31 August 2026.
Meanwhile, Philippi East police confiscated an unlicensed firearm and 16 rounds of ammunition during a stop and search operation at Road 35, Better Life on Friday 28 August 2026. A 35-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
The suspect will appear before the Athlone Magistrate’s Court today, Monday 31 August 2026.
