An enthusiastic Kyle Peters was all smiles today when his dream was realized by signing a 4 and half year contract with the Urban Warriors. Peters has been given an initial two and a half year contract with an option to extend for another two years with the Ajax Cape Town outfit.
The Heideveld born keeper was spotted by Ajax scouts in 2003, where he later joined the Ajax Cape Town under 11 team at the tender age of 10 years old. He has progressed through the Ajax Youth Academy and developed into a professional player. He caught the eye of the 1st team coach Maarten Stekelenburg, who has been part of the development of Kyle during his time as the Head of Youth at Ajax Cape Town.
“Kyle is a very young goalkeeper with great footwork and good height. He fits the typical mould of an Ajax goalkeeper. He has bright future ahead of him.” concludes Maarten Stekelenburg.
Furthermore, Ajax Cape Town F.C. CEO George Comitis states: “This is what we strive for at Ajax Cape Town. At a time where Youth Development is high on the agenda for all PSL clubs, we have developed yet another young boy from the age of 10 years old to sign a professional contract with our PSL team. He has the caliber to represent Bafana Bafana one day. This is the Ajax Dream of Youth Development.”
Kyle was presented with the number 27 jersey and will have ample time to learn from more experienced keepers at Ajax with Sander Westerveld and Sean Roberts battling for the number one spot.
