The students of the Maitland High school were surprised when a number of Ajax Cape Town players arrived at their school late last week.
The Ajax Cape Town Community Scheme CSI project has already visited a number of schools across the Cape Peninsular, from the townships to the Cape Flats and into the more affluent areas of the Cape.
When the players arrived, the Ajax youth coaches and community volunteers had started the well-known Ajax Kick ‘n Learn module of the Ajax Community Scheme, this special program helps to support the children on a social and sporting level.
After a short training session with the players, the team and the boys looked for some shade to sign autographs on team posters and stickers supplied by Ajax Cape Town. The children were visibly happy as smiles lit their faces, and they enjoyed the company of the players.
All in all, the inter-action between the players and the kids was very positive, and a return visit is on the cards to cement this relationship.
