WESTERN CAPE – The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi has issued a stern warning to members of SAPS in the Western Cape who are involved in corrupt activities following an incident on Sunday, 16 August 2026, and said that he is taking a zero-tolerance stance against officers who are taking bribes or abuse their power.
Members of the Anti-Corruption Unit arrested a police sergeant who found himself on the wrong side of the law when he accepted cash to take dagga and tobacco into the holding cells at Micthell’s Plain SAPS. The police officer was caught in the act and was arrested following the sting operation. The cash was found in his possession and the contraband was confiscated in the cells.
The adult male suspect is expected to appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ court on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, for corruption.
