Anthony Jeanjean (FRA) and Moses Adams (SA) win Converse ULT.X titles in Cape Town.

3 March 2024 by Alan

2nd March 2024 – The vibrant city of Cape Town played host to an electrifying spectacle of athleticism and adrenaline as contestants from around the globe converged for the Converse Ult.X at Battery Park in the famous V&A Waterfront. The event saw the world’s top freestyle BMX riders and South Africa’s best park skateboarders battling for supremacy in the African Champs.

Anthony Jeanjean (Fra) beat out Kevin Peraza (Mex) and Boyd Hilder (Aus) to successfully defend his Converse ULT.X BMX title. His winning run of 92,75 was cheered on by the crowds for his unique lines and style. “I’m so happy to win this event again; it’s been a pretty good week with an incredible crowd; yeah, the sun is out, and I’m just happy to take the win again.” said a jubilant Jeanjean.

Jeremy Mallot (USA) won the Pat Casey Best Trick award for his 180 Triple Tailwhip. Emotions ran high by Mallot when describing this win, “This is one of the best events; everyone comes together and pushes it. It was a little windy towards the end, but we managed to make it work, and I’m so incredibly honoured to take home the Pat Casey Best Trick; this one was for him, and it was a trick he was an absolute legend at, so I’m glad that I stuck it. I took the slams for him, and this one’s incredible man.”

It was an all Cape Town affair in the Converse ULT.X Skate final, with Moses Adams edging out Ty Adams and Ethan Cairns to claim his title. “Everything went so well today; I’m grateful to have reached the finals through qualifiers and semis. I did my best; I’m at a loss for words. I’m a bit emotional now but really glad about the win. I want to thank my man overseas, Manny Santiago, for telling me to rock the boat. Thank you.”

Durban’s Khule Ngbane ensured that Cape Town didn’t take a clean sweep in the skate disciples, winning the best trick for his Nollie Bigspin Back Lip over the rail. “I’m super, super stoked to win the best trick; it’s an awesome way to start the new year. A big shout out to all the brands that supported this event to make it happen!” Said an elated Ngubane.

“Every year the level gets raised, the skateboarding was on another level, and the BMX boys went off; we couldn’t believe what we witnessed today; it was a great day of action sports here in Battery Park in the mother city”, said the event organizer, Markus Musler from Old School Productions.
