Anti-Gang Unit Recovers Firearm, Ammunition and Drugs

14 October 2026 by Con Tributor

WESTERN CAPE – The persistent efforts by members of Anti-Gang Unit to remove firearms and drugs from the hands of criminals resulted in the confiscation of a unlicensed firearm, ammunition and drugs, and the arrest of two suspects in separate incidents in Lentegeur.

On Tuesday night, 13 October 2026, the members were deployed in Lentegeur policing precinct, due to ongoing gang violence. Whilst in the area, information was obtained through a reliable source of a firearm and ammunition at premises. The members immediately operationalised the information and proceeded to a house in Tessa Crescent, Montrose Park. A thorough search was conducted of the occupants and premises, and a firearm with 10 rounds of ammunition was found in the possession of the suspect. A 20-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition and detained at Lentegeur SAPS. The firearm and ammunition were booked in as exhibits and for further processing.

Later, a search and seizure operation was conducted, aimed to confiscate illegal firearms, ammunition and drugs in the area. The team conducted a search at premises in Clare Crescent, Lentegeur which led to the arrest of a 25-year-old male who was found in possession of tik.

Both suspects are due to appear for their mentioned charges in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court, once charged.
