
Police have opened an inquest docket following a drowning accident at Saunders Beach, Bantry Bay.
The CoCT (City of Cape Town) water rescue network was activated at 19h33, Wednesaday, 29 November, following reports of a drowning in progress at Saunders Beach, Bantry Bay.
NSRI Bakoven and NSRI Table Bay rescue swimmers, Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services, CoCT Law Enforcement, the SA Police Services, WC Government Health EMS rescue squad and ambulance and ER24 ambulance services responded.
On arrival on the scene a local man, believed to be 34 years old, in a critical condition from injuries sustained in what appears to be a drowning accident, was treated by paramedics.
A bystander doctor and rescue services assisted.
Sadly, despite extensive efforts to save the mans life, the man was declared deceased.
Condolences are conveyed to family, colleagues and friends of the deceased man.
