Bok Van Blerk and Elandré Bring Afrikaans Magic to Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts

15 January 2025 by Con Tributor

Cape Town, 14 January 2025 – Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is set to host a stirring evening of music and culture on Sunday, 19 January 2025. Fans of Afrikaans music are in for a treat as two of the genre’s most celebrated artists—Bok van Blerk and Elandré—take the stage for an unforgettable Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concert.

Bok van Blerk, renowned for his poignant storytelling and commanding stage presence, expressed his excitement about performing at the iconic venue. “Performing at Kirstenbosch for the first time is truly a momentous occasion. This garden is not just a venue—it’s a cultural landmark that carries so much meaning for artists and audiences alike. I’m eager to share my music in this breathtaking setting where nature and melody come together. This concert will be a memory to cherish, and I can’t wait to connect with the audience.”

Joining him is the dynamic Elandré, whose fresh pop-infused sound has redefined contemporary Afrikaans music. Reflecting on the upcoming performance, Elandré shared, “To perform at Kirstenbosch is an incredible honour and a milestone in my musical journey. As an artist, there’s something extraordinary about standing in a place that feels so alive—with the mountains as your backdrop and an audience eager to connect. This show is about more than music; it’s about sharing stories, building connections, and celebrating our collective journey as South Africans. I can’t wait to bring my heart and soul to this concert.”

The evening promises a stellar celebration of Afrikaans music, featuring beloved hits and moving melodies that resonate deeply with fans across generations. The open-air stage at Kirstenbosch, surrounded by natural beauty and unparalleled acoustics, provides the perfect setting for this exceptional concert.

Sarah Struys, Events and Tourism Manager at Kirstenbosch, shared her thoughts on the performance: “Kirstenbosch is not just a world-class botanical garden; it’s a hub of culture and community. Hosting Bok van Blerk and Elandré here allows us to celebrate the richness and evolution of Afrikaans music in an environment that uplifts and inspires. Their music captures the stories and emotions that so many hold dear.. It’s going to be an unforgettable afternoon filled with passion, culture, and world-class artistry.”

The concert’s backdrop—the iconic Table Mountain—adds an extra layer of enchantment to the experience, making this event one not to be missed.
