Calling All Wildlife Warriors – International Zebra Day

Johannesburg, January,29th, 2024: On 31st January, South Africa joins the world in celebrating International Zebra Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the conservation of these iconic animals that grace the local bush and national parks. Zebras, with their distinctive black-and-white stripes, are not only a symbol of African wildlife but also play a critical role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystems.

To honour these majestic creatures, the Camouflage of Nature Gilded Gold-Plated 5 OZ Silver Zebra Coin 2023 offers collectors a stunning tribute. Its intricate design celebrates zebras’ beauty and uniqueness while reminding us to protect them for future generations.

“South Africa is home to two of the three zebra species, including the Cape Mountain Zebra, which has made a remarkable comeback thanks to dedicated conservation efforts,” says Dr Sue Snyman, Director of Research, School of Wildlife Conservation at African Leadership University “But continued habitat protection and community involvement are crucial to ensure their survival in the face of increasing pressures.”

This International Zebra Day, support conservation by visiting South Africa’s national parks, learning about zebras, or contributing to local initiatives like the Wilderness Foundation Africa. Together, we can protect these remarkable animals and their habitats. Visit https://wildernessfoundation.co.za/ for more.
