Day 04.09 Hi Mookho!

she’s a star. Mookho joined me today to the school. Mookho is from the Freestate and has been teaching for years in Lesotho. At the moment she is finishing her Masters degree Diversity studies at the University of Cape Town. Mookho is one of the trained Umthombo facilitators. The two of us have been a real team the past children’s weekends on the organizational site. Mookho ALWAYS smiles! she is one of the most loving people I have met!
Today we had a look at leadership qualities and explored what some favorite leaders of the students are and why. We also explored a bit about cultures. Mookho explained for example that in the Sotho culture, a child comes from the river, from a crocodile. I explained about ‘the Ooievaar’ and ‘beschuit met muisjes’ ….good to explore about my own culture as well. And YES, we also have some great traditions…
have a look at YOUR culture and the celebrations you enjoy most. Look at when a baby is born, people want to get married, becoming an adult or dealing with death….
no culture is better then the other. to respect is to fully understand and celebrate differences and similarities ..
