South Africa’s Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years on Robben Island, a remote and rocky island off Cape Town’s Table Bay. Today the island is a national museum and historic monument. Daily tours to Robben Island depart from the VandA Waterfront. The tour includes Nelson Mandela’s prison cell and the infamous lime quarry.
