A self-care subscription box service has been launched by new Cape Town small business, Ease, this April.
Ease was founded by Jenna Solomon, a 23-year-old honours media student at the University of Cape Town, in January this year. The business started out selling care packages with same-day delivery, a service that considered social distancing guidelines.
Ease is about tools that enhance self-care, self-development, and, ultimately, happiness. It’s about helping people reach their goals and finding pleasure in practical things that challenge and empower them.
This brand philosophy is reflected in the self-care subscription box offering. Customers subscribe to receive a box every month, containing 5+ items and /or services. Each box will contain a snack, a challenge, a home/office item, a body care item, and various extra goodies.
Each box will also contain an item that promotes community participation. All items
are sourced from small businesses and/or locally made.
The first box, delivered in the first week of May, will contain: a chocolate brownie from The Baker’s Delicacies; a pot plant from PotsaboutPlantsCT; a pack of The Secret Love Project stickers; S Collection tissue oil, body lotion, perfume, and discount coupon; a Loose Sketchings postcard; tips from psychology practice Sage Therapy; a discount coupon for golden hour glo; and access to a community of self-care devotees, suggestions for self-care practice, and community activities. One lucky subscriber will also find a pair of Andalusia pearl studs from klassik in their box.
A once-off box is priced at R380, excluding delivery costs. Discounted boxes are available for students, pensioners, and grant holders at R280, excluding delivery. A 6-month subscription costs R360 per month (R260 per month for students, pensioners, and grant holders), while a 12-month subscription costs R330 per month (or R230 per month for students, pensioners, and grant holders).
As an opening special, the once-off price is R350, excluding delivery, and R220, excluding delivery, for students, pensioners and grant-holders. Sign up and payment are via the website and opens 25 April 2021.
Delivery is to main centres nationwide.
