Cape Town’s Restaurant Rankings Released

12 August 2026 by Con Tributor

The Pot Luck Club Rated as the Top Restaurant in the CustomerX Index™

Cape Town – The Pot Luck Club has been named the leading restaurant in the inaugural CustomerX Index™ Cape Town Restaurant Edition, a reputation benchmarking index that measures customer satisfaction, sentiment and brand visibility in online media.

The CustomerX Index™ combines a restaurant’s customer ratings and reviews with its online media coverage to provide a balanced measure of its reputation. Using Google review data alongside an in-house media monitoring tool, the index assesses both customer satisfaction and the volume of online editorial coverage. Together, these insights reflect customer trust and brand visibility, enabling meaningful comparisons between leading hospitality brands.

The findings demonstrate that while Cape Town’s leading restaurants consistently achieve excellent Google customer ratings, visibility in the online media remains a significant differentiator between top-performing brands.

The CustomerX Index™ Top 10

  1. Rank & Restaurant CustomerX Index™ Score Ranking
  2. The Pot Luck Club 83.3 Gold
  3. Kloof Street House 79.9 Silver
  4. La Colombe Restaurant 79.2 Silver
  5. Karibu Restaurant 76.9 Silver
  6. GOLD Restaurant 71.9 Silver
  7. Thali 67.5 Bronze
  8. The Hussar Grill Mouille Point 66.4 Bronze
  9. The Hussar Grill Camps Bay 66.4 Bronze
  10. Biesmiellah Restaurant 65.1 Bronze
  11. El Burro Green Point 65.0 Bronze

Reputation Meets Visibility

According to Gerrit Davids, Founder of the CustomerX Index™, “The rankings demonstrate that customer satisfaction alone no longer determines market leadership. Restaurants with consistently high Google Ratings and positive customer sentiment remain highly competitive, but those that also generate sustained online media coverage through tourism features, chef profiles, awards and destination marketing gain a measurable competitive advantage.”

“Restaurants with high customer ratings and strong online media coverage build credibility, strengthen their reputation and attract new customers. The findings also highlight the growing importance of earned media in strengthening restaurant brands beyond customer reviews. After all, who is better placed to rate your business than your own customers?” said Davids.

Individual CustomerX Index™ ranking certificates and detailed reports are available on request.
