City advises of water supply disruption to part of Southfield

5 June 2022 by Alan

The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be shutting off the water supply to part of Southfield on Wednesday, 8 June 2022, from 08:00 until 18:00. This will enable the safe completion of construction work on the main water supply to the area and will result in the disruption of water supply to the area bounded by Pretorius Street, Dirkie Uys Street, Bergzig Street, Wolmarans Street, Prince Royal Road and Prince George Drive. Read more below:

The work involves replacing a few lengths of pipe of the existing water supply network in Concord Street as per the Water and Sanitation Directorate’s criteria for pipe replacement.

Residents are kindly advised to store water upfront in clean, sealed containers for domestic use during this period and to ensure that their taps are closed to avoid water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.

This work forms part of the Water and Sanitation Directorate’s pipe replacement and upgrade programme which addresses the need for water supply network upgrades, in particular the distribution system to the consumers.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused.
