City warns of disruption in water supply to Goodwood on Wednesday 14 March

15 March 2012 by CapeTownNewsReader

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department will be conducting tests on the water supply network serving the Goodwood area on Wednesday 14 March 2012.

In order to carry out these tests, the water supply to the area will be disrupted. This will result in Goodwood (between Vanguard Drive, Giel Basson Street, the railway line and the N1) being without water between 09:00 and 12:00.

This work forms part of the City’s Water Demand Management Strategy. The pipeline will be assessed for the most suitable location of pressure management installations which will extend the lifespan of the water supply infrastructure by reducing the number of pipe bursts.

When the water flow and pressure is restored, there might be a brief period when the water is slightly discoloured.

Residents are advised to store drinking water in clean, sealed containers for domestic purposes.

Residents must ensure that their taps are properly closed during this period. Should the tap be inadvertently left open and the flow restored while they are away from home, damage could be caused and a considerable amount of water wasted.

The City wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused, but it is essential that we improve our water supply infrastructure to the benefit of our consumers.
