“It is with great concern that the members of the Conduct Committee and I became aware of yet another media leak with regards to confidential matters the committee is still dealing with.”
“I wish to condemn this act of sabotage in the strongest terms as it places the integrity of the committee at great risk. It is quite clear that whoever is responsible for this leak is driving an agenda. The code that prescribes the Conduct Committee is clear and all members are bound by these prescripts.”
“Clause 15(2) of the code reads: When the Conduct Committee regards a matter being confidential all reports and minutes related to the relevant matter of the Conduct Committee are to be kept confidential. It is thus unprecedented and completely unacceptable that these leaks occur. The committee has gone to great lengths instituting mitigating measures for such leaks not to occur and has ensured process integrity in terms of the code.”
“Given the current situation, one cannot help but to speculate as to the source. The Conduct Committee cannot be used as a vehicle to drive agendas.”
“We will engage the Registrar of Members’ Interests and seek legal guidance to ensure that a thorough and proper interrogation and investigation into these leaks be conducted as a matter of urgency and ensure that no stone will be left unturned in getting to the facts. Those found to be responsible should be dealt with decisively.”
“The committee will be called to an urgent meeting to deliberate and take a resolution on requesting such investigation as a matter of urgency.”
