DA condemns ANC’s attempts to disrupt WC Parliament

The DA condemns the ANC’s appalling behaviour in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) yesterday afternoon.

Following the Speaker’s decision to not grant the ANC’s request for a debate on a matter of urgent public importance, the ANC attempted to descend the House into chaos despite clear parliamentary rules governing the matter.

From frivolous points of order and interjections to undermining the authority of the Deputy Speaker, the ANC has today proven that it is in fact the party destabilising the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.

The ANC in WCPP sang from the EFF’s hymn sheet today and seems to have come into the Sitting with the sole intention of instigating instability.

Unlike the ANC, the DA in the WCPP is committed to our Constitutional mandate to perform oversight over the Provincial Government and holding the Provincial Executive to account.
