Da Costa returns to lead DHL Stormers Bolts

16 October 2026 by CapeTownNewsReader

Aden Da Costa returns to captain the DHL Stormers Bolts in their final league fixture of the SA Rugby U20 Cup against Toyota Cheetahs U20 at City Park on Saturday.

Action at City Park will get underway at 12h00 on Saturday, with the match being streamed live from Athlone on the Stormers TV YouTube channel.

Da Costa is back at blindside flank in one of four changes to the forward pack, with lock Alexander Smith, hooker Altus Rabe and prop Unaye Mndau also back in the starting line-up.

There are four changes to the backline as well, with wings Meyer Prinsloo and Luca Potgieter coming in, along with centre Sam Badenhorst and scrumhalf Tyrone Gombe.

Head Coach Johno van der Walt said that it is important to take some winning momentum into the knock-out phase of the competition.

“We would like to end the league phase of the competition on a high and ensure that we are ready to give our best in the Semi-Final.

“This season we have had our depth tested and that has also allowed us to give game time to a wide selection of players. Now we need it all to come together as we head into the business-end of the campaign.

“We know we will have a tough challenge against the Toyota Cheetahs U20, which is just what we need. So hopefully we can make the most of the opportunity at home,” he said.

DHL Stormers Bolts: 15 Dylan Miller, 14 Meyer Prinsloo, 13 Sam Badenhorst, 12 Kobus Blanckenberg, 11 Luca Potgieter, 10 Dawid Badenhorst, 9 Tyrone Gombe, 8 Quintin Potgieter, 7 Aden Da Costa (captain), 6 Wihan Kotze, 5 Alexander Smith, 4 Zander van Zyl, 3 Lukho Mtwana, 2 Altus Rabe, 1 Unaye Mndau.
Replacements: 16 Xabiso Mkiva, 17 Bulela Mbala, 18 Zak Hickman, 19 Tom Barnard, 20 Collin Kemp, 21 Reuben Kruger, 22 Tristan van Niekerk, 23 Chandler Green.
