The DA in the Western Cape is delighted to announce that Mr Chris Mcpherson was elected as the new mayor of Oudtshoorn at a council meeting this evening. Mcpherson takes over from the ANC’s Chad Louw.
At the meeting this evening, the DA and it’s coalition partners, which includes the Freedom Front Plus, ICOSA and Suid-Kaap Saamstaan, had the majority of votes and managed to elect Mcpherson as Executive Mayor, Mlandeli Nyuka from Suid-Kaap Saamstaan as Deputy Mayor, and Johan Allers from the Freedom Front Plus as Speaker.
The council also elected the DA’s Anel Berry as the new Chief Whip of the Oudtshoorn council.
The DA is fully confident that the newly elected leadership of the Oudtshoorn Municipality, under the guidance of Mayor Chris Mcpherson, will bring the DA’s proven record of good governance back to Oudtshoorn and its residents.
