
A large amount of drugs were taken off the streets yesterday, due to the diligence of two police members from SAPS Table View.
On Tuesday, 13 September 2016 at 11:00 Table View SAPS members, were patrolling along the N7 when they came across a man who was hitch-hiking. The two members stopped the vehicle to inform him that he was not allowed to walk or hitch a ride on the side of the National Road.
The man was carrying a large back pack and the two Constables decided to search the bag, when the suspect bolted. Constables Tayi Tayi and Vink chased the man and speedily caught up with him. When they returned to the bag, they discovered two large bags wrapped in brown tape containing compressed cannabis, with an estimated street value of R6000,00.
The 20-year-old suspect, who is a foreign national and resides in Du Noon, was apprehended. He was hitching a ride to Atlantis when he was arrested by the two Table View Constables.
