Dear Ace, PFMA obstructs ANC looting of the fiscus

The DA is not surprised that the leader of the so-called, ANC’s Premier League’, Ace Magashule, holds the opinion that the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) is a hindrance to government programmes and “radical transformation” as was revealed in an interview with him published in today’s Mail and Guardian.

Magashule and his Free State provincial government have for years now done their best to undermine the PFMA with an alternative ‘Public Financial Mismanagement by Ace’ agenda, and it shows in successive Auditor-General annual reports for both provincial and local government in the Free State.

We are well aware that this new notion punted by the ANC of radical transformation is nothing but a ruse to further economically empower and advance the ANC elite and their connected cronies at the expense of the people.

The PFMA is necessary to safeguard the people’s fiscus from unabated looting. The PFMA makes the funding of Magashule’s patronage network more difficult, small wonder he intends to get rid of such progressive legislation.

The DA would like to remind Magashule that it is not best accounting practise that hampers transformation and development, but rather a need by deployed ANC cadres in government to feed from the fiscus first.
