The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise residents that roadworks will take place along Forest Drive between Van Riebeeck Road and Bobs Way in Eerste River from 19:00 tonight, 15 September 2026, weather permitting.
‘The night work along Forest Drive in Eerste River will continue until 3 November 2026 between 19:00 and 05:30, from Monday to Saturday, weather permitting. Residents and business owners can expect some noise during this time. However, we will ensure that all lanes are scheduled to reopen to traffic by 06:00 on weekdays before the morning rush. Maintenance projects such as these prolong the longevity of our roads and form part of how we keep Cape Town moving over the long term,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Rob Quintas.
The resurfacing works will include the following:
- Milling and removal of the existing asphalt surface and replacing it with hot-mix asphalt.
- The removal of damaged kerbs and installation of new kerbs.
- The replacement of selected and damaged channels and re-alignment where needed.
Some congestion can be expected therefore road users are urged to use alternative routes while construction work is under way and to be vigilant in and around the roadworks area.
