Entrepreuners encouraged to call Patricia

15 April 2015 by Alan

Cape Town – In a bold move, Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille told all in attendance during the opening of the 2 nd World Travel Market Africa on Wednesday to give her call if they wanted to know anything about the city.

But handing out her cellphone number was not the be all and end all of unique opportunities shared by the mayor during her opening address.

As part of the five strategic pillars of the City of Cape Town for enabling greater economic participation, De Lille said the City had selected ten local entrepreneurs to participate in World Travel Market Africa affording them an opportunity to engage directly with some of the worlds top tourism industry buyers.

The selected 10 Travel entrepreneurs are:

– Nonkululeko Charter

– Daddy’s World (accommodation)

– 33 South Backpacker

– Khayelitsha Travel

– Stobers Shuttle and Tours

– Sesfikile Wines

– Kingdom Tours & Transfers

– Mzansi Restaurant

– Enchanted Guest House

– Bikes and Wine (tour guides)

Through WTM Africa we aim to not only grow the tourism market but to establish Cape Town as a leading business and leisure destination, a gateway and the events capital of Africa, De Lille said.

Through the opportunity provided by the city the local tourism enterprises will be able to interact with potential distributors and buyers, test market interest, evaluate competition, identify strategic partners and position themselves globally.

I hope that they will take this opportunity to create sustainable relationships with tourism industry experts from across Africa and the world.”

De Lille also said the World Travel Market event went a long way in unlocking Africas potential and showcasing the citys ideas to a global audience.

Last years inaugural event attracted 3 000 travel professionals from over 60 countries the 2 nd World Travel Market Africa Exhibition is taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre until Friday 17 April.
