Fishing Boat assisted in dense fog

2 June 2019 by Alan

Marc de Vos, NSRI Table Bay duty coxswain, said:

At 12h46, Saturday, 01 June, NSRI Table Bay duty crew were activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) following a request for assistance from a 16 foot local fishing boat with 4 crew onboard and in dense fog unable to safely navigate to their launch site at OPBC (Oceana Power Boat Club) and suspected to be lying off-shore of Paarden Eiland and in no imminent danger but requesting assistance.

Our sea rescue craft Spirit of Vodacom was launched and following a search we found them at anchor and safe off-shore in the vicinity of Paarden Eliand.

Using our navigation equipment on our sea rescue craft and in dense fog NSRI escorted them to OPBC without incident where they recovered their boat and no further assistance was required.
