Former EC Health messenger sentenced for fraudulent R23.7m PPE contract

A former messenger in the office of ex-Eastern Cape Health MEC, Sindiswa Gomba, has been handed a 10-year prison sentence for fraudulently awarding a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) tender.

Three suspects, including a police officer were on Monday arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation for dealing in an unpolished diamond in Mahikeng.

The North West Provincial Steering Committee – led by Water and Sanitation Minister, Senzo Mchunu – has instructed the committee’s Technical Task Team to start prioritising critical projects that will ensure the immediate restoration of water in areas with existing infrastructure in the province.
