Gangbusters Free Surfing Magazine Issue 3 Out Now

18 May 2021 by Con Tributor

Gangbusters Digital Surfing Magazine Newsletter 1, May 2021: The first cold snap of the year has moved across the country, and the first traces of winter swells are in the air. Is it going to be another cracker winter like last year? Are we going to lockdown during a third wave? Will Uncle Cyril let us surf? Will he let us buy beers and durries? So many questions…

Either way, you have Gangbusters Surfing Magazine to help you through the dark times. Issue 3 of Gangbusters included the following people, either with a mention or a photograph: Jordy Smith Pat Flanagan Dave Lindemann Mike Frew Phil Nel Mat Marais Morne Loubser Shane Sykes Gavin Roberts Matt McGillivray Dylan Lightfoot Mikey February Stephen Price Dutchie Ricky Basnett Paul Naude Tom Carroll Johnny Paarman Carl Roux Mike Tomson Davey Van Zyl Julian Wilson Morgan Cibilic Gabriel Medina Carissa Moore Josh Malherbe  Johnny Bakker Mike Schlebach Josh Redman Chad Du Toit Bryce Burness Warwick Wright Remi Peterson Mike Ruthnum Makai Kabot Christy Gilmore Zoe Steyn and more.

We strive to be inclusive

Pat Flanagan’s photo essay has proven to be the most popular article of the issue so far. In it, Pat lays down his favourite tracks from all the years of capturing surfing in South Africa. Epic images from yesteryear combine with new school ripping. Pat has been shooting for 45 years and has always had a great eye for capturing the moment.

The WSL Update is always a well-read piece, as we follow the progress of Jordy Smith, Matt McGillivray, and friends on tour. After their recent performances at Margaret River, they are both proving worthy competitors and Jordy could win a world title, and Matt could win an event with ease.

We love our regular photo feature called Clean Lines as we try and find those images that are epic and clean and that will entice you to want to go surfing. This issue features the works of Mike Ruthnum from JBay and Dave Lindemann from Durban.

Do you want to read last month’s issue ?

Remember we have a website, a Facebook Page, an Instagram account, and a sister magazine called The West Wind that is based in St Francis Bay and features the people and the happenings from the greater St Francis Bay area including JBay.
