Golden Arrow bus bombing condemned

1 November 2019 by Con Tributor

The Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape strongly condemns the petrol bombing of a Golden Arrow bus in Vrygrond, Muizenberg early on Thursday morning. It is also alleged that protesters have blockaded local roads and attacked trucks transporting goods.

Daylin Mitchell, MPP says: “It is gravely unacceptable that acts of vigilantism and blatant violence are again holding the province under siege and threatening the lives of our residents. A citizen’s rights to protests must always be upheld, but this right may never be allowed to infringe upon the rights of others, nor endanger the life of another.”

MPP Mitchell adds: “I welcome the arrests made, and further call on all law enforcement to act swiftly in bringing this violence to a halt and apprehending those responsible for it. Nobody is above the law.”

The DA in the Western Cape remains committed to upholding the traffic laws which govern our roads and its users and keep our people safe. We will not be deterred by a select few who refuse to abide by these laws to which we all must be held accountable.
