The Chinese New Year falls on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025, ushering in the Year of the Snake, a time to celebrate transformation, wisdom, and prosperity.
Gold has long been special in Chinese culture, symbolising wealth, good fortune, and enduring value. A cherished Lunar New Year tradition is gifting red envelopes, or hongbao, filled with money to bring luck. Elevate the custom by including a gold coin this year as a meaningful and timeless gift.
Consider iconic coins like the Chinese Panda 1oz gold coin, with its annually changing design, or the Triumphant Dragon 1/2 Kilo Silver 2021 coin featuring the mighty dragon. For South Africans, the 1oz proof Krugerrand (2025) offers a uniquely local take on this tradition.
Rael Demby, CEO of The South African Gold Coin Exchange & The Scoin Shop, says: “Gifting a gold coin makes for a thoughtful blend of tradition and enduring investment.”
Gong Hey Fat Choi, wishing those who celebrate a prosperous year.
