Great victory for DA in Ward 21

1 September 2022 by Alan

Dear Editor

The DA in the Northern Cape is celebrating another outright win in Sol Plaatje municipality, Ward 21, following today’s by-election in Kimberley. See pic here.

The DA clinched the ward, having increased our percentage of the vote from 51,14% in the 2021 Local Government Elections to 58,87%.

The DA’s growth comes despite a recent ward demarcation that lost the party a number of voters.

This demonstrates appreciation for the DA’s outstanding track record where we govern and where we have turned broken towns around and transformed dysfunctional municipalities into state-of-the-art centres of excellence.

The DA continues to prove itself to be a party that is uncompromisingly grounded in values and principles. This is in stark contrast to a trend in other parties, where individuals, and not the party’s policies, take centre stage.

The DA is not out to win popularity contests. We are out to win elections so that we can win back safe and driveable roads, quality drinking water, clean environments that are free of sewage spills and other services that have disappeared under the ANC.

The DA will ramp up our efforts as the opposition, to tackle poor service delivery by the ANC in Ward 21.

Simoné Greeff, takes up the position of Ward 21 councillor. Greeff is determined to get the basics right in Ward 21 and she has pledged to report all service delivery issues that she becomes aware of to the municipality and to report back to the respective community within 72 hours on the progress of rectifying the issues.

The DA thanks all of the voters of Ward 21. We will build on the momentum achieved in the by-election and continue to build trust in the DA, as we work towards unseating the ANC in 2024.

Regards

Harold McGluwa, MPL
DA Northern Cape Provincial Leader
