The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate has commenced with road works along Martingale Avenue in Hout Bay as well as Katzenellenbogen Road and Dassenheuwel Lane in Noordhoek. The project commences today, 24 March 2026 and is scheduled for completion by Friday, 12 June 2026 if all goes according to plan.
The project will consist of the formalisation of the roads and stormwater infrastructure of these unmade roads.
Works will take place between 08:00 and 17:00 from Monday to Friday. Residents and business owners can expect some noise during this time.
‘We aim to complete the road surfacing and the installation of stormwater infrastructure along these unmade roads in Hout Bay and Noordhoek by the end of June. We apologise for any inconvenience caused over the next few months and thank residents for their cooperation as we work to maintain safe and efficient road infrastructure. Where possible, I recommend that commuters use alternative routes during this period,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when travelling through work zones, adhere to temporary signage and be mindful of roadwork personnel on site.
