How to Pair Your New Black Keypad With Your Existing Amanzi Prepaid Water Meter

24 January 2024 by Con Tributor

Congratulations on the new black keypad upgrade for your Amanzi prepaid water meter! This sleek addition not only enhances your home’s aesthetics but also empowers you to take control of your water usage like never before. But before you dive into the crystal-clear waters of convenience, let’s guide you through the pairing process, making sure your new keypad harmonizes perfectly with your existing meter.

Preparation is Key:

Gather your tools: You’ll need your new black keypad, the existing prepaid water meter  number (usually found on a sticker inside the old keypad, on your meter itself or on your water purchase receipt), and a clear head for instructions.
Check those batteries: Your new keypad uses four AA batteries. If the keypad appears ‘dead’ when you receive it then please refer to the Straton Prepaid video below.

Pairing: A Two-Step Tango:

Reset the UIU: This step wipes the slate clean for your new partnership. With the black keypad powered on, press the #981# combination. The display will show “default.”
Re-pair the UIU: Now, it’s time to introduce your keypad to the meter. Enter the #999# UIU code followed by the serial number on your water meter (usually engraved near the base). Press # after each entry. If successful, the keypad will display “Paired OK.”
Bonus Tip: If you encounter any hiccups during pairing, don’t despair! Straton Prepaid‘s website and contact details are readily available for assistance. Simply refer to the user manual provided with your new keypad or visit their website at https://straton.co.za/pre-paid/about/faqs/#water OR https://straton.co.za/pre-paid/about/prepaid-meter-error-codes/#utilitysystemserrorcodes .
