WESTERN CAPE – Continued efforts to rid our streets of illegal firearms, led to the arrest of a 46-year-old man for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Vukayi Street, Lwandle on Tuesday morning, 25 July 2023.

Members of the Provincial Operational Coordination Centre received and passed on information to operational members about a firearm at the mentioned address. The house was searched and a 9mm pistol with ammunition was found in the safe. When the members asked for a firearm license, the suspect could not produce one. Once charged the suspect will appear in the Strand Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.

In an unrelated matter members of Bishop Lavis Crime Prevention Unit received information of a suspect who was travelling in a taxi, suspected to be in possession of a firearm.
