Jooste steps in for DHL Stormers Bolts

13 August 2026 by CapeTownNewsReader

Highly-rated prop Jordan Jooste will make his first appearance for the DHL Stormers Bolts in the SA Rugby U20 Cup match against Sharks GEN in Durban on Friday.

Jooste is one of seven players who are currently at the Stormers Rugby Institute included in the starting line-up for the coastal encounter, which kicks off at 13h00 on Friday.

The inclusion of Jooste sees Zak Hickman move across the front row to start at tighthead prop , in what is the only change to the forward pack.

There is just one change in the backline, with Freek de Kock starting on the right wing.

Head Coach Johno van der Walt said that it was crucial to keep as much continuity in selection as possible.

“It was fantastic to get our campaign off to a winning start at DHL Stadium two weeks ago, but we know that we will have to make a step-up this week against a Sharks GEN that will be determined to turn things around at home.

“We kept the same combinations together as far as possible as we look to build some cohesion and put together a big performance on the road,” he said.

DHL Stormers Bolts: 15 Dawid Badenhorst, 14 Freek de Kock, 13 Randall-John Davids*, 12 Samuel Badenhorst, 11 Jordan Steenkamp*, 10 Rayaan Solomons, 9 Jayden Brits*, 8 Quintin Potgieter*, 7 Aden da Costa (captain), 6 Gert Kemp*, 5 Dominic Sesink-Clee, 4 Alexander Smith, 3 Zak Hickman*, 2 Almero Keizer, 1 Jordan Jooste*.
Replacements: 16 Lukho Mtwana, 17 Bulela Mbala, 18 Unaye Mndau, 19 Ethan Combrink, 20 Wihan Kotze, 21 Tyrone Gombe, 22 Olunje Mehlomakulu, 23 Luca Potgieter.
