Staff from Anchor Industries in Cape Town recently successfully completed the Wire Rope Examiners, Wire Rope Anchor Line Inspection and Fibre Rope Splicing training courses facilitated by industry expert Hugh Donachie, a training and technical consultant as well as owner of UK-based HD Enterprises.
Key Anchor Industries staff from all the regions and Anchor Testing and Rigging Services staff underwent training at the warehouse in Cape Town. The training courses, made up of practical and theoretical exercises covered important aspects such as the maintenance and inspection of wire rope in service, wire rope resin socketing or wire rope white metal socketing, mechanical splicing, including proof load testing of assemblies; and wire rope hand splicing – long, endless and eye splicing, all of which adhere to internationally recognised API, BSEN and ISO standards.
The course also provided staff with useful tips to improve efficiency – in the speed and accuracy at which they perform their job.
“Our team can now coordinate these inspections and carry out replacement work on site. The more specialised services we are able to offer, the greater the benefits enjoyed by our clients. One of the new services we now offer is anchor line inspections,” explained David Pratt, Anchor Industries Branch Manager.
