Lucid, Alive and Dreaming

25 September 2012 by Alan

Pop-rock band macstanley, formerly known as Flat Stanley, has just released their third album Lucid, Alive and Dreaming which went on sale on 21st September. The album, the group’s first in five years, was mastered in New York, and is being released in South Africa by 2 Feet Music, an imprint of Sheer Sound cc.

Rob Cowling, GM of Sheer Sound said, “We are excited to be involved in the release of the new macstanley album. Having been fans of the band and their music since their Flat Stanley debut in 2004, it’s wonderful to have them come full circle and join the Sheer team. We look forward to working with them. We love the new material, and we think you will too!”

The new album retains the band’s unique sound but, in addition to the melodic pop songs they’re well known for, the album also contains some haunting ballads and a few edgier, harder rock tracks.

Explaining their absence from the music scene for a while, band members Andy Mac, Clinton and Neil said, “More recently we’ve been somewhat out of the public eye, but not idle. During this time we’ve been working steadily on new material, pursuing various opportunities in Europe and building the fantastic support team that we are currently privileged to have around us.”

“To us the most important thing has always been the song, and to be sure that it’s a good song you need to be able to play it on just a single acoustic guitar. We’ve stuck to this thinking with Lucid, alive & dreaming. But in other ways it’s different. For one, there’s definitely more energy than on anything we’ve ever done in the past. We’re extremely proud of our new album and we can’t wait to share it with our fans.”

The band will perform some of their new tracks at the annual HEINEKEN® Symphonic Rocks concert on the 29th September at Grand Arena GrandWest and on the 6th October at Big Top Arena – Carnival City.
