Back in June 2009 a Greyton animal welfare activist found a dog belonging to the family of a prominent DA councillor chained and malnourished.
But councillor Caroline Wood claimed that her husband Norman owned the female dog. Police charged him with animal neglect.
Wood said the dog had become emaciated when it refused the food which had been offered to it.
In a follow up the DA CHief Whip, Anthea Serritslev said; “The Democratic Alliance views this matter in an extremely serious light and we have already taken steps in this regard. The dogs have been removed from Councillor Wood’s home and are now in the care of the Animal Welfare Society. Councillor Wood has been charged in terms of the DA’s Federal Constitution for misconduct and a disciplinary panel has been constituted to investigate the matter and to recommend disciplinary action against her. In addition, Councillor Wood will in all probability face criminal charges under the applicable animal cruelty legislation.”
And Now the Animal Welfare Society in Philipi is looking for a home for the dog in question, Lady. See the photo’s below:

Lady has met her best friend at the Animal Welfare Society. His name is Happy and the two of them are inseparable. The Philipi Animal Welfare would love to rehome them both together as Lady has suffered so much loss already.
Lady has no hang ups and is friendly and loving.
Only homes and families in Cape Town need apply as a home inspection needs to be done.
